Indian Wedding Reception at TPC Southwind May 1, 2012

It was a busy wedding weekend for Mahaffey! We provided a 66 ft x 166 ft tent for an Indian wedding reception of 450 guests at TPC Southwind this past Saturday.

The tent was dressed a variety of Mahaffey accessories including solid white sidewalls, a beautiful white ceiling liner, five 28-light iron chandeliers, silver canister lights, wood flooring, carpet, two stages, a white dance floor, white leather tufted bars, banquet tables, cocktail tables, mahogany chiavari chairs, ivory chair pads, and silver chargers. 12 upright fans were also used to generate air flow and half of the sidewalls on one side of the tent remained open to provide more light and an airy feel. Take a look at the finished product!

The color scheme for the wedding reception was stunning. The tables were decorated using acid green, peacock blue, and dark purple table linens. We did not provide the linens, but we did provide the silver chargers at each place setting, which were accented with teal blue napkins. White satin sashes were draped over our mahogany chiavari chairs for a soft, romantic touch.

We thoroughly enjoyed working Le Reve Creations, a full service event design & decor company out of Richmond, VA, to make this wedding huge success!

 

Wedding Trends 2012 February 3, 2012

In our last blog post we shared 2012 color trends with you, so today we want to share four general wedding trends that come to us from St. Louis Weddings on what you can expect to see brides engaging in this year.

Going Green

Brides will save money and the environment as they incorporate environmentally friendly touches to their wedding. More brides will be choosing locally grown flowers, re-purposing old items for centerpieces ,and purchasing recycled invitations.

Vintage Themes

Many brides will choose vintage and rustic decor this year. Brides will be achieving this feeling by decorating with old antiques, refurbished thrift store items, and old wedding photos from both families on the tables at the reception.

Think Outside the Church

Many couples will choose to be married at an outdoor location, such as a beautiful garden or a gorgeous backyard, as opposed to a church.

Having an outdoor ceremony is just one way to make your wedding memorable.

Do-It-Yourself

Do-it-yourself projects have been very popular among brides for the past few years, and this year is no exception. More and more brides are turning to DIY projects like printing their own invitations, writing their own place cards and creating centerpieces themselves. If you have the time and the creativity, you can add a lot of home made touches to your special day.

St. Louis Weddings recommends taking it one DIY project at a time to avoid overload.

Holiday Open House with The Metal Museum December 7, 2011

The National Ornamental Metal Museum is one of Mahaffey’s preferred vendors, so we encourage everyone to check out their Holiday Open House this coming Sunday, December 11, from noon to 5 p.m. at 374 Metal Museum Drive in Memphis.

The event will include holiday music by pianist Hayley Roth, refreshments (bake-off style), and family fun activities. The open house will feature these exhibitions:

  • Fresh: Exhibition in Print (Dec. 9, 2011 – March 4, 2012)
  • Weighed in the Balance: Akan Gold Weights from the Canadian Museum of Making Collection (Dec. 9, 2011 – March 4, 2012)
  • Holiday Show and Sale (Dec. 9 – 23, 2011)
  • Tributaries: Sarah Perkins (Dec. 9, 2011 – Feb. 19, 2012)
  • Thomasin Durgin: Ring A Day (through Jan. 8, 2012)

Admission is free and museum store items will be on discount during the event. Non-members will receive 10% off museum store purchases, and members will receive 20% off museum store purchases. These discounts will not be valid with any other promotions.

And if you’re interested in hosting an event at the Metal Museum, details will be available on The Winter Wonderland Package at the Holiday Open House. Mahaffey supplies the Metal Museum with all its tent and party rental needs, and we’ll have a consultant on hand who will be able to give you more details and information about the package. Bridal consultant and event decorator, Angela Mazanti, will also be in attendance to answer questions.

Many brides are kissing traditional ways goodbye! It’s generally accustom for a bride to wear one dress on her wedding day, but one of the latest and hottest new trends is to have two wedding day dresses – one for the ceremony and one for the reception. Mahaffey Partner Spotlight: Just Catering/Just For Lunch October 12, 2011

Barnes also owns and operates Just for Lunch, a local restaurant that is comfortably nestled in the Chickasaw Oaks Village at 3092 Poplar Ave, Suite 11, in Memphis. Stop by and you’ll see, like we did, that it’s the quaintest restaurant in town. The atmosphere is reminiscent of tearooms, and they have a variety of delicious menu items. Classics include chicken salad, albacore tuna salad, pimento cheese, egg-and-olive, and ham salad. The salad selection is substantial and includes Southern chopped salad, Mediterranean salad, pasta salad with Brie, and the Just for Lunch club salad. Sandwiches, soups, and desserts are also available. We stopped by yesterday and had a wonderful lunch out on the patio. I had the BLT & avocado sandwich with a side of fresh fruit, and Beth had the grilled chicken sandwich with a side of fresh fruit. Both were amazing!
