Ready for a night out with the kids or a night to just act like a kid? The Memphis Botanic Garden has the perfect event for you… Snowy Nights in My Big Backyard. This fun, giant play area located in My Big Backyard is complete with a playhouse, musical light show and an interactive snow globe. Games and crafts projects will entertain little ones with activities such as cookie dough ornament decoration, Mitten Toss and Tic-Tac-Snow, designing a Giant Light Bright and searching for hidden snowflakes! Just in case in gets chilly, campfire pits are located on the patio. Don’t forget your s’mores ingredients though; these fire pits are for more than just keeping warm. S’more kits, hot cocoa and other concessions will be available for purchase for those craving some winter treats.
Not only did Mahaffey install the structure for the giant snow globe, but we also wanted to share this neat experience with the community. We were able to donate tickets to FirstWorks, a non-denominational, faith-based, 501(c)3 non-profit organization that strives to meet the needs of inner city children in Memphis, Tennessee. Founded in 1988, the organization still continues to meet every Tuesday night during the academic school year. Children are dropped off for dinner and then participate in academic lessons, life-skill initiatives, tutoring and assistance with homework. FirstWorks loves to provide opportunities for the kids to have fun, so we are excited to share the good news!
Snowy Nights will be open Fridays and Saturdays from November 23rd through December 15th. Beginning December 17th, through the 29th, it will be open daily. On the 20th, 24th and 25th, Snowy Nights will be closed. Hours are 6:00-8:30, with the last admission at 8:00 p.m. We hope to see you there!
