SNOW DAY! When these two words are said, we guarantee that you will see a smile being placed upon many children’s faces. In our first “Flashback Friday” post, we’ll take a look back to a one-of-a-kind, ice-kissed event produced for the kids of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
On this day, Mahaffey Tent & Party Rentals joined forces with ALSAC/St. Jude, Holliday Flowers & Events, Twirl Events, Target Corporate, Nolan AV, and Draper’s Catering to create a spectacular “ice”capade. One of our own Mahaffey tents housed this holiday-themed show on ice, “The Great Skate-Tacular at St. Jude”. Once inside, the kids would find ice skaters performing to their favorite holiday songs, snowflakes and twinkling lights dangling from above, shiny linens and decorative pillows, animated cutouts, photo stations, face painting, toys, food, and much, much more. Altogether, this winter wonderland created a very deserving “snow day” for the families and children of St. Jude!
We were honored to help turn this place into an extraordinary space! Equipped with tents, tables, lighting, linens, and other party rentals, Mahaffey is ready to help transform your upcoming event. Stop by our showroom or call 901.457.4538 today to schedule an appointment with one of our event specialists!
Special thanks go to our partners and fellow participants for being part of such an amazing event!
Playing off of the city’s Rock n’ Roll roots, the t-shirts aim to prove Memphis rocks in more ways than one. A huge music note as the backdrop on the t-shirts lists things that make our city awesome such as The University of Memphis, The Orpheum, the National Civil Rights Museum and the Memphis Zoo. Proceeds of every shirt purchased will be donated to the Memphis Police Department Fallen Officer Memorial project. This memorial will be erected at The Oak Court Mall in East Memphis and will honor those that have died in the line of duty with the Memphis Police Department.
The Lipscomb & Pitts Breakfast Club is a team of partner businesses in the Mid-South that aims to enrich business leaders and impact the community. The club hosts seminars and workshops and also offers members the opportunity to engage the community by volunteering.
Make sure to order your shirt online to join Mahaffey in celebrating Memphis and honoring our police officers!

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is one of the amazing organizations we support, and this weekend is particularly special for them because it marks the 10th annual St. Jude Memphis Marathon. Many runners call it the most meaningful race they’ve ever run. It attracts marathoners from across Memphis, the United States and all over the world. They come together for one common goal: to raise money and save children’s lives.
Some runners choose to become part of the St. Jude Heroes team—a nationwide group of everyday athletes with a common goal of finding cures and saving children. In 2010, more than 6,000 Heroes from across the country raised more than $3 million for the children of St. Jude. The effort of the Heroes team inspires hope in children who are battling cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases.
Here are a few pictures of marathoners running the race from over the years:
St. Jude was founded in 1962 by the late Danny Thomas. On average, 5,700 active patients visit St. Jude each year, most of whom are treated on an outpatient basis. The hospital maintains 78 inpatient beds and treats upwards of 230 patients every day. St. Jude is solely supported through donations and fundraising efforts, and the money raised from this year’s marathon will undoubtedly help keep their doors open.
Good luck to everyone running the race this year! Our very own marketing manager, Beth Wilson, will be running the half marathon and we wish her the best of luck!
