Tuesday Trends: 5 Ways to Use Social Media at Your Wedding

If social media had a mission statement, it would be to bring people together while simultaneously keeping them informed. Here are 3 ways to do just that for the bride and groom’s big day!

1. Planning: A decade ago, wedding planning meant stacks of magazines and a three-ring binder for most brides. Today, everything needed to plan a wedding can be found on a smart phone. Pinterest is a great resource for getting ideas on everything from hair styles to bridesmaids dresses to event decor. And for the brides that don’t want every detail of their wedding shared before the big day, Pinterest has secret boards. If a bride needs more than inspiration to plan a wedding, Google has a wedding budget template and apps like lover.ly and The Knot can help tame the chaos before the nuptials.

2. Day-Of Coordination: Utilize apps like Wedding Party, Wedding Planner for iPad, and appy couple for a more seamless day of experience. These apps have can coordinate vendor information, send out email reminders to the wedding party when they need to be somewhere, keep a shot list for photographers and so much more.

3. Crowdsource Your Photographs: Wedding photographs are the piece of the ceremony and reception that will last forever and many couples don’t want to miss out on the moments between their guests. Crowdsourcing wedding photos is a great way to involve their guests and have photographs they would otherwise not have. A popular trend now is creating a wedding hashtag and having guests share their photos on twitter and Instagram using the hashtag. Apps like WedPics, Snapable, and Eversnap allow the couple, the wedding party, and all the guests to share photos and videos during the ceremony and reception and order prints and albums to help remember the day.

Three Popular Flowers for Fall Weddings

Wondering what some of the most popular flowers are for this fall wedding season? If you’re a fall bride, then listen up because this blog post is for you! We’ve stumbled upon three types of flowers that are hot this fall season, and we want to share them. Enjoy!

Dahlias can make any fall bouquet pop! Since they are a garden flower, they look great paired with other garden flowers like peonies and daisies. They are beautiful, bold and bushy, so their dramatic appearance is sure to catch the eyes of your guests. You can expect to pay around $5 per stem for dahlias, but it is well worth it because their blooms are often over 4” across. This size is great for helping to fill out bouquets, center pieces and other wedding floral decor. Dahlias come in a variety shapes, sizes and colors including white, yellow, orange, hot pink, burgundy and burgundy/black. They also come in bi-color varieties.

Hydrangeas create and elegant and beautiful accent when used in wedding floral. They can be incorporated into bridal bouquets as well as ceremony and reception flowers. Hydrangeas have a big, bushy head, which help to fill empty spaces. Because they are so large and beautiful, some brides choose to use only hydrangeas in their bouquet. They are moderately priced and come in a variety of shades such as green, pink, burgundy and blue.

Mums are playful and unique, so they generally look best when incorporated into bouquets with other types of flowers. Mums also look great as boutonnieres and corsages, providing a pop of color to the wedding party floral. They are relatively inexpensive considering their size, and they come in a variety of colors including white, off-white, yellow, gold, bronze, red, burgundy, pink and purple. Mums are also easy to tint, so if you want a particular color, but can’t find it – tinting is always an option.

Wedding Theme: French Luxury Blue & Gold

In Southern Bride‘s current Winter/Spring Mid-South issue (hitting shelves now), they did a beautiful “French Luxury” wedding theme with rich tones of blues and golds. The deep, navy blues signify royalty while the gold enhances the color with a rich, elegant feel. There was not a single detail untouched and everything from the place settings, flowers, linens, cake, stationary and accessories brought to life a lavish feel as if you were truly a part of French royalty!

All of this came to life thanks to this incredible team of event professionals:
