Bridal Rhapsody Extravaganza – Part 2

What a fun day! Despite the July 4th weekend, Sunday’s Bridal Rhapsody Extravaganza was a success! Everything from the fashion show to the cake walk and door/grand prizes came together perfectly.

All brides, regardless of whether they won any prizes, walked away with the latest issue of Southern Bride Magazine. Mahaffey had a wonderful time setting up the booths for all the vendors, the entryway and cafe area, and of course visiting with all the brides-to-be. We are excited to be a part of your big day! A big thank you to our friend Alisa at Club Windward, for the beautiful centerpieces and all of your help! And congrats to our $250 gift card winner.

2012 Color Palette Trends

A new year brings new trends! We’re loving the latest blog post by Party Connections called 2012 Wedding Trends, and we want to share the 2012 color palette trend with you. Enjoy!

Neutral or Bold

Party Connections says, “2012 style swatches are showing us either palettes of complete neutrals or shockingly bold pop. Use blush, peach, and taupe or jade, cherry, and tangerine. Bridesmaids are being mismatched in their own, bright attire and fresh cut flower alternatives such a big paper flowers or succulent plants are adding a more sustainable approach.”

Are you a 2012 bride? What are your wedding colors? Are you going neutral or bold? Let us know!

Be sure to check out the rest of Party Connection’s 2012 wedding trends here.

Three Popular Flowers for Fall Weddings

Wondering what some of the most popular flowers are for this fall wedding season? If you’re a fall bride, then listen up because this blog post is for you! We’ve stumbled upon three types of flowers that are hot this fall season, and we want to share them. Enjoy!

Dahlias can make any fall bouquet pop! Since they are a garden flower, they look great paired with other garden flowers like peonies and daisies. They are beautiful, bold and bushy, so their dramatic appearance is sure to catch the eyes of your guests. You can expect to pay around $5 per stem for dahlias, but it is well worth it because their blooms are often over 4” across. This size is great for helping to fill out bouquets, center pieces and other wedding floral decor. Dahlias come in a variety shapes, sizes and colors including white, yellow, orange, hot pink, burgundy and burgundy/black. They also come in bi-color varieties.

Hydrangeas create and elegant and beautiful accent when used in wedding floral. They can be incorporated into bridal bouquets as well as ceremony and reception flowers. Hydrangeas have a big, bushy head, which help to fill empty spaces. Because they are so large and beautiful, some brides choose to use only hydrangeas in their bouquet. They are moderately priced and come in a variety of shades such as green, pink, burgundy and blue.

Mums are playful and unique, so they generally look best when incorporated into bouquets with other types of flowers. Mums also look great as boutonnieres and corsages, providing a pop of color to the wedding party floral. They are relatively inexpensive considering their size, and they come in a variety of colors including white, off-white, yellow, gold, bronze, red, burgundy, pink and purple. Mums are also easy to tint, so if you want a particular color, but can’t find it – tinting is always an option.

The Best of Southern Weddings Part II! {Guest Post}

A special thank you to our friends at Southern Bride. Below is a recent blog post that goes along with our “Best of Southern Weddings” series. Hope you get as much inspiration out of it as we did! You can’t get any more Southern than mason jars. 🙂

The Mason Jar, also known as “Ball Jar” was invented in 1858 by John Mason. The original purpose of the mason jar was to be used for preserving and storing food. They are still used for that very purpose today, but have also become quite popular for weddings as well. Many brides have been using mason jars to incorporate a little southern flair into their big day.

They can be used in so many ways! They can be a decoration with candles or flower arrangements inside, on tables, as aisle markers, as table numbers, filled with some treats/favors for the guests, and of course they can be used to serve food and drinks.

Mason Jar Wedding Decor

Mason jars can be used in both formal and casual settings. Adding some beautiful floral centerpieces can make them more formal, while placing a single stem or votive candle can make it more casual. They can also be used as glasses for your guests to drink from. You can serve Southern favorites like lemonade or sweet tea or even a signature, Southern cocktail.

Holly and Aaron Ryan, who were married in Moorseville, AL used mason jars to decorate the church they were married in. They hung the jars on the pews with simple flower arrangements and delicate ribbon The church was very old and Holly did not want to take away from the character of the church, which is why the mason jars worked so well. Their wedding was a true, Southern event and the mason jars added that special touch and set the tone for their special, Southern celebration. Anna and Josh’s Wedding in Corinth!

This seemed to be an appropriate post for today, seeing as how we’ve had our fair share of messy weather lately (understatement of the century, I know).

Despite the weather not cooperating, Anna and Josh had a wonderful wedding ceremony and reception in historic Corinth, Mississippi earlier this month. Mahaffey‘s clear tent held up perfectly and kept guests dry and warm, all while providing a gorgeous view of the rainy, yet beautifully lit sky.

Check out photos of this memorable evening, along with some of our fabulous party rentals! 🙂 All photos courtesy of Studio J.
